Animal Friendly Felted Sheepskins with Wild Rose Farm
Date: September 19, 2026
Time: 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM

Location: Wild Rose Farm, Whidbey Island

Join feltmaker Kristina Foley at Wild Rose Farm for a hands-on workshop exploring how to create an animal friendly felted sheepskin. Using wool from the beautiful flock of rare heritage sheep tended by fiber artist Nan Leaman and her family, students will learn how to design and felt a unique piece inspired by the look and texture of a sheepskin.

Participants will be guided through selecting and arranging raw wool locks from the farm’s sheep and combining them with combed Merino from Shaniko Wool Company to create a richly textured felted piece. Along the way, Kristina will share techniques for layout, design, and wet felting.

By the end of the workshop, each student will complete an approximately 18 × 18 inch felted “sheepskin” that can be used as a chair topper, small rug, or wall hanging.

This workshop is also a wonderful opportunity to connect with the PNW Fibershed while learning the essential process of wet felting - using only warm water, soap, and hand agitation to transform raw wool into a beautiful new textile.

No prior feltmaking experience is necessary - beginners are welcome.

What to bring:
• Lunch
• Comfortable clothing and shoes
• Apron
• Dishwashing gloves (optional)
• 1 bucket
• 2–3 towels
• 1 cup

Participants: 12

Price includes materials & instruction.

A reminder email with directions will be sent out prior to the workshop.
